Do you have partial dentures? If so, our dentist, Dr. Shelly Galvin, encourages you to do everything you can to keep them in tip-top shape. This is because if you don’t clean and care for your dentures properly, there is a chance they can warp, break, and no longer replace your teeth the way you want them to. So, it’s best to care for and clean your partial dentures by doing the following things:
-Rinse your partial after eating. All you need to do is remove your appliance and run it under warm (not hot) water. This can help you wash away any bacteria that gathered on your appliance during your meal. As you handle the denture, be careful not to drop it. Dropping it can break the appliance.
-Brush your partial daily. You can do so with a soft-bristled toothbrush and denture cleaner or toothpaste that do not have abrasives. This is important because abrasives can scratch and harm the denture.
-Soak your partial overnight. It’s best to put your appliance in a cup of water or mild denture-cleaning solution. This can help it keep its shape. In the morning, don’t forget to rinse the denture before you put it in your mouth.
